Songsmelt (songsmelt.com) and the Songsmelt Chrome extension turn a YouTube song link into an AI-music prompt pack. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the service.
What we process
- The YouTube link you analyze. When you click Analyze (on the site) or the Songsmelt button (in the extension), the video URL is sent to our server so we can read the song's public metadata and generate your prompt pack.
- Aggregate usage statistics. For each analysis we log the video ID, song title, approximate location (country/city derived from the request), timestamp, and whether the analysis succeeded. This helps us understand usage and improve the service.
What we do NOT collect
- No accounts, names, or email addresses — the service requires no signup.
- No browsing history — the extension only acts on the YouTube page you explicitly click it on.
- No cookies for tracking, no ads, no sale or sharing of data with third parties.
The browser extension
The Songsmelt extension for Chrome and Edge runs only on youtube.com. It reads the address of the video you are watching solely when you click the Songsmelt button or open the popup, and sends that address to our API at songsmelt.com to generate the pack. It does not read page content, other tabs, or any personal information.
Third-party services
Generation runs on Cloudflare Workers AI, and song metadata comes from YouTube's public oEmbed service. Both process the request transiently to produce your result.
